  • High feed mills will rip that right off. Iscar has a line of high feed inserted endmills too. They work well. I use their high feed tools in 15-5 stainless with great results.”

  • “We use Walter on A36. .3 depth of cut at 700 sfpm and .007 chip load for a staring point. Pictured will be 4” fm box and inserts we use. Works the best for us.”

  • “If you have Mastercam or Gibbs. Use dynamic or volumill to remove your material. A 1/2" 5 or 7 flt EM will out do a face mill or high feed insert mill by 60 to 70%. I took a part that had about 6 hours of cycle time with a feed mill and cut it down to 45 minutes with a 5 flt 1/2" EM.”

  • “Not enough info. How Rigid is your setup n work holding? Tool Rep will help n work with you trying their greatest n latest if you at least make a verbal commitment to purchase throughout your run. They can also assist in getting cost down. Easy peasy”

  • “Castrol Syntilo 9954@10% is amazing cutting fluid on this material and available on Amazon”

  • “Sandvik 880 U drill to create an array of holes and then drop either a creatizit or MMC high feed chip splitter in on a tricodial path. Had a part I had to remove about 25kg out of and that was my starting point. Might help. I used 32mm U-Drill and 25mm 7 flute chip splitter”

  • “Iscar FFQ8 tool line. Best removal tool I've used so far. It's their new high-feed stuff. It's incredible!”

  • “45 years in the trade. Most stitches at 1 time was 13 in my palm. Caused by a deburr tool that the ball broke off of the tip.”

  • “I don't know why I'm laughing so hard but that fuckin made my morning!”

  • “Kero is good for controlling infections around mashing and bashing steel too. Told me by a surgeon who worked in a steel mill town. They would dump burnt or cut limbs and appendages into kero asap and staff infections went down considerably when it was made available”

  • Very cool. I bring good things to life machining parts for Steam turbines/generators. Some things weigh up to 150 tons and over 30ft long. Your gears are pretty close. Whole different ball of wax. We set those huge pieces up to .001 runout or less. Still amazes me”

  • “Careers are born out of a Machinist Apprenticeship … we got to bring back Manufacturing and all the education it provides”

  • “Double-helical gear. I assembled gears and shafts of that size when I was an apprentice millwright. You get one shot at it. The hub shrinks fast once it comes into contact with a super cold shaft, so you better have it seated all the way.”
